Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
Because our growth story is one that is unparalleled.  Personally, I thrive in a growing, innovative environment. Cushman’s business is dynamic and fast-paced. We work with the best clients, provide the best real estate solutions, and have the best talent. As a global organization, we have a matrix structure; I am fortunate to work on a number of cross-functional teams where I am constantly challenged to think outside the box or reverse engineer a solution to a problem.
C&W has one of the most interesting growth stories in our industry. How has our recent momentum made an impact on your role or created opportunities for you?
In the last 12 months, I have been focused on integration and acquisitions.  We have successfully integrated DTZ and Ashlar Urban Realty, and more recently acquired 20 VIC, which expands our capabilities in Canada to include Asset Services. Our employee population in Canada has more than doubled, and we are building an HR Platform in the Americas that will leverage best in class technology, and focus on HR as a business partner.

Our local and global leadership teams are hyper-focused on putting the right people in the right places, developing a culture of high performance, and gaining client wallet share. For employees who want to be part of the growth, there is nothing but upside – exciting new career opportunities, new and interesting clients to represent, and the ability to deepen existing relationships with the broadening of services.

What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
The firm’s growth plan hinges on a condensed timeframe for integration. I stay focused by remembering a phrase one of my mentors once said: “We are not saving lives, and no one is going to die today.” She didn’t want our team to become paralyzed by what seemed like an impossible task. The best way to tackle a huge project, such as integrating hundreds of new employees, is to break it down into smaller achievable objectives. When you do this, you will find you can think clearer, and the progress you make will motivate you to keep going.

Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
I work here because of the team I work with. We’ve been together for 3.5 years, and have gone through mergers, rebrands, ups and downs. We’ve evolved together and keep pushing forward. Our bond gives me the space to express myself creatively, but we hold each other accountable so no one gets away with anything.  The years have become more challenging here at C&W, so that’s a good reason to be here; I need to be challenged.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
I’m proud that I get to be a designer and also pursue acting, my other passion.

Tell us a little about your story. How did you come to C&W? What do you do?
I was working for The Bank of New York, which is now JP Morgan Chase, right across the street from Cushman & Wakefield. On a day-to-day basis, employees from C&W would come in to make deposits and cash their checks.  One day, an employee walked in and asked me if I would be interested in working for a large corporation, and that there was an opening for an administrative assistant position with the Project Management team.  I applied, and met with two of the project managers from the team, Alan Levine being one of them. I was told that I would meet with a third project manager, Gus Matticoli, and I would be called back for a second interview. Two weeks passed by, and I did not hear anything. At this point, I assumed I didn’t get the job.  Much to my surprise, I received a call and was told that Mr. Matticoli returned from vacation and was ready to interview me. I came in and got the JOB!

Throughout my 19 years, I have held two positions, which have allowed me to meet exciting, intelligent people who have contributed to the success of the company and ultimately, become lifelong friends.

Coming to work for Cushman & Wakefield was the best decision I’ve made in my life; I’ve dedicated nearly half my life to C&W, and am glad that I went in for that interview! It wasn’t always a walk in the park, but I’ve always been surrounded by amazing colleagues, upper management support and team work. We have always been able to handle any obstacle that came our way.

The annual events are the most memorable. We have the opportunity to relax, and enjoy each other’s company, surrounded by food, music and lots of laughter. To this day, Alan, Gus and I reminisce about my interviews; Alan still remembers the outfit I wore that day when he first interviewed me.

Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
There are plenty of reasons why people want to work here. The question is not; “Why you want to work here and not somewhere else?”, but more importantly, “Why I come to work?” I come to work every day to support my family and have a stable career in life. It gives me great pleasure knowing, that the moment I come into work, I’m engaged, satisfied, motivated, productive, and equipped to do my job, ultimately resulting in progress, growth and a sense of satisfaction that is indescribable.

The best way of sustaining this feeling is to establish a common purpose, build values around it, express those values through our behavior and character, and excel at your job. In other words, you must love what you do daily as it drives purpose in your life. The best part is I get paid to do what I love; therefore, it never feels like work at all. This is the place for me. This is my “why.” What’s yours?

Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
Cushman & Wakefield is constantly changing, and has forced me to be able to adapt quickly in order to meet the company’s expectations, which is important. I thrive off of change, and I think it helps a person grow. C&W has provided this opportunity for me. I have also had exposure to so many parts of the business because of all of the changes going on in the past few years, which has really given me a well-rounded view of what it takes to make this company successful.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
With the company that is continuously evolving and going through many changes, I try to help wherever I can. Because I have had so much exposure to not only the business, but our various systems and support teams, I am able to provide guidance and build relationships that I may not have had otherwise.
