Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
I really enjoy working with the people on my team. We have different backgrounds and personalities, but our cohesiveness fosters a friendly team environment. I can’t imagine that I’d have such a positive experience working somewhere else.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
Getting accepted to and graduating from Columbia Business School. I was living in Michigan at the time — wanting badly to move back to New York City — and my dad challenged me to get into Columbia. Many people thought that I was too young and didn’t have enough experience to get accepted, so I was glad to prove them wrong. The degree is something that will help me, both professionally and personally, for years to come.

I appreciate the entrepreneurial and collegial atmosphere at Cushman & Wakefield. The firm makes a full array of resources available to ensure that clients receive the best service in the industry.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
Having the opportunity to work on the enormously successful Manhattan West leasing team, where we have leased almost 2,000,000 rsf of office space with another 1,000,000 rsf of leases out, has been one of the highlights of working at Cushman & Wakefield for me.

Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
I started my career working for a real estate owner and developer. Learning how to manage properties from the owners’ side of business was of immeasurable worth because it taught me the importance of the client’s perspective. It also showed me the true value of what we, as property management professionals, can achieve when we manage properties as if they were our own.  Cushman & Wakefield has a platform that breeds that level of service and excellence. The support and guidance from our leadership team is tremendous. Individual efforts and accomplishments get recognized and rewarded. It is an honor to work in such a collegial setting.
With the breadth of services we have now, how are you able to do more today for your clients?
One of the crucial strengths that we, as a company have and what has given us an edge over our competitors over the years, is our ability to customize our services based on our clients. The set in stone operational platforms that our competitors run, while impressive, do not always prove to be a value-add dynamic for clients who have unique needs and plans for their assets. With the growth of our company, we now have an opportunity to enhance our operating platform and further develop our own standers of excellence. Combining this with the already proven ability to customize our services will give us an unmatched versatility, and ensure our dominance and leadership in the market.

After spending 27 years at a competitor, I was thrilled to join Cushman & Wakefield. At my former employer, we were always coming in second to C&W, so it was both a privilege and honor to join and be a part of the winning team.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
I am proud and excited to be in a position to support and advocate for our Asset Services teams while meeting our clients objectives. My 30+ years of hands-on management experience will greatly influence how I lead and support our teams.

Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
At C&W, there is truly a team environment, both locally and nationally, which is rare in the appraisal field. That same collaborative spirit carries over between service lines, as well.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
I received my MAI designation this year, which I am very proud of. C&W played a major role in helping me get to the finish line. I made several C&W appraiser friends from around the country in the process.

Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
Quite simply, the culture and unprecedented support from leadership, whether within Research or with local leadership. Having a partnership approach has been crucial to the restructure and building of the Research platform. What is said and committed to becomes a reality; there are no false promises or constrictive environments. I wake up every day knowing C&W is a place I want to work. I truly enjoy my job and the people I get to work with on a daily basis.
C&W has one of the most interesting growth stories in our industry. How has our recent momentum made an impact on your role or created opportunities for you?
Through the growth story, I was able to be a spectator from the outside. Knowing the industry and many people in it, (including with C&W) it was amazing to see how well that transformation went, and the dedication to minimizing impacts. C&W’s communication and transparency allows for growth, and the ability to build relationships across the platform has been an opportunity within itself. Knowing that the value you bring to the firm is recognized is critical to one’s development, but is noticed by all who share similar aspirations.

Tell us a little about your story. How did you come to C&W? What do you do?
I started in the NYC office of C&W in 2006; I had been working in Dallas at the Staubach Company for 8 years, and was looking for both a professional challenge and personal change. There was a position available in the Manhattan headquarters that needed someone with my specialty. I interviewed and got the position. My specialty is representing occupiers of space, and advising these clients on how to best structure a transaction to maximize the benefit to tax, cash and their financial statements position. We do that via looking at a company’s credit and arbitrage the capital markets and the real estate market via executions such as sale leasebacks, synthetic leases, and other creative solutions.
Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
Cushman & Wakefield’s brand name carries a lot of weight in this industry, and specializations matter in a big firm like this. In a smaller firm, the same person might be your build to suit expert, your data center expert and a tenant rep expert. In a firm such as C&W, you have subject matter experts who can help you with an array of issues.

Why do YOU work here at Cushman & Wakefield and not somewhere else?
I really like the people I work with. The PDS is great, and I enjoy how we share relevant project experiences with each other. Being part of the PDS team is like being part of a family.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
I am most proud of becoming a working mom. I had my first child 2 years ago, and Cushman & Wakefield/the PDS team has made my transition from “single” life to mom life very easy and very enjoyable. I cannot thank both my managers (Tom Fioretti and Bill Starcevich) enough for their continued support and understanding of family life.

C&W has one of the most interesting growth stories in our industry. How has our recent momentum made an impact on your role or created opportunities for you?
The move from an alliance firm to a company-owned office has significantly improved our win rate. It has also bolstered our opportunities to win major assignments.  Our momentum has energized recruiting of top talent in our market. Within the next two years, we hope to double our revenue from 2016.
What solution, achievement or moment are you most proud of while either working at Cushman & Wakefield, or in your personal life?
While professional accomplishments are fulfilling in their own way, I count my relationships with people as the most significant rewards of a 30-year real estate career — my family, friends, partners, clients, and co-workers. The love that I have for these people is the fabric of my life, and I am blessed to be loved by them.

At Oxford, we had an awesome identity statement in which we committed to enriching the lives of others. That gives meaning to all the successes and setbacks in our business.

With the world constantly changing, how has your job, or client’s job changed over the past 10 years?
The biggest changes that I’ve seen come from the growth of big data and the tools we use to demonstrate trends or patterns. Traditionally, we lag a bit behind as an industry in this sense, but by having the opportunity to streamline the process of data management and dissemination, we provide tremendous value to our clients in a timely and efficient fashion.
With the breadth of services we have now, how are you able to do more today for your clients?
By providing a truly full service platform, Cushman & Wakefield’s value-add proposition is applicable to every industry, in every country, at any stage of their business cycle or lifetime. When I meet someone at an event or in passing, there is always a conversation to be had concerning how we as a firm can help them grow or see the world differently. Our business may be categorized as “Real Estate,” but it’s hardly the only thing we “do.” Clients, professionals, and peers recognize that and see very quickly that there is a reason to engage us.
